The Town of Index is located just off Highway 2 on the west side of the Cascade Mountains. With a population of 150, Index is a microcosm of the American small town. Mountains and cliffs surround the town, providing for breathtaking scenery.
The Skykomish River, known for its beauty, power, steelhead fishing and whitewater rafting, drifts right through town and sometimes Avenue A.
Activities abound for the hearty. Opportunities for hiking, fishing, rafting, kayaking, rock climbing and skiing surround you at A Cabin on the Sky.
Main attractions in town include the Index General Store, the historic Bush House and the Index Tavern, which is now the River House. During the summer guests should visit the Pickett Museum which chronicles the town's history and growth.
